The ships and craft of the Navy, the Fleet is the prime teeth arm of the navy and consist with naval platforms ranging from Offshore Patrol Vessels to Inshore patrol craft. These ships and craft with well-trained crew are stationed in all major harbors around the country. Dedicated workshops facilities are available to ensure the fleet is moving and staff are working 24x7. SLN deploys its fleet to ensure the National security of the Nation while maintaining safe and secure seas around the island.
Sri Lanka Navy conducts sea operations to ensure the National security of the nation which include operations against transnational crimes at sea, protection of critical marine infrastructure/ resources, Search and Rescue operations and Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response etc.
Over 30 years, SBS truly became the pioneer elite unit in other SOFs of tri forces with great inventiveness and has repeatedly proved that competencies of SBS combatants and SOF tactics to Special Operation Principal Missions (SOPM) are proficient and qualified over the conventional and unconventional treats.
The Sri Lanka Navy Rapid Action Boats Squadron (RABS) is a professionally competent and specialized unit deployed to exercise sea control and sea denial in a limited maritime domain utilizing offensive deployments in choking points, approaches to harbours, and coastal areas of tactical importance.
This idea had been there since early 90’s and the original idea mooted in 12 th November 2015, then after the war Navy was in the process of right sizing it shape. Exponentially expand battle hardened ground force with lots of first hand experiences needed to be amalgamate in to naval classic role. where that marine concept identify as the best solution.
The role of supply is crucial for the sustainable conduct of naval operations and administration. It can be considered as the bridge between the Navy's needs and optimal utilization.
